I have enjoyed watching the first two of three episodes of the new BBC series
The Crusades. The presentor is Dr Thomas Asbridge, under whom I studied in the past. Clearly he is having to simplify the narrative for the sake of airtime and to appeal to a general audience, but he's doing a good job of telling the story, nonetheless, and covering the key issues.
